COLORADO SPRINGS TO HOST SHOWCASE OF RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO –The Showcase of Retirement Communities will be held at eight of the Pikes Peak area’s top luxury retirement communities Saturday June 12 and Sunday June 13 between 12 and 5 pm. This year’s participants include Village at Skyline, Palisades at Broadmoor Park, the Inn at Garden Plaza, Viewpointe, Cheyenne Place, MacKenzie Place and new this year; Liberty Heights and Summit Glen.

The 2010 Showcase builds on the success of last year’s Parade of Retirement Homes and offers the community a chance to preview an entire range of beautifully staged independent living home styles, locations, floorplans, prices, features and services available in the marketplace today. The event has expanded nationwide and was featured in AARP and MSNBC.

“With a quickly rising population of seniors looking to downsize to a safe, low-maintenance lifestyle, it’s important to be able to have adult children, and the seniors themselves, preview what Colorado Springs has to offer,” said Shannon Rogers, Executive Director of the non-profit Senior Resource Council.

“The senior housing industry has evolved into an all-inclusive resort-style living, as the communities offer concierges, personal drivers, on-site medical clinics, executive chefs and fitness trainers, “ said Rogers. “Monthly social calendars are filled with trips to local attractions, recreational activities, fitness programs and social events, it’s amazing.”

The free event features tours, food, entertainment and giveaways. Showcase communities can be visited in any order. After a brief registration, guests will receive a Showcase Passport to be stamped at all communities.

After visiting the communities, the public will be able to vote for the “Best of…” Awards including Best Dining, Best Place for Mom or Dad, Best Services and Amenities, Staff, Activities, Value and overall Best of Show.
